FIVE STAR DISPLAY BY ADSL   19/01/2014

ADSL      5       :     NORTH EAST COUNTIES LEAGUE        0

The ADSL U-14 Development Academy recorded a very impressive performance in a 5-0 win over the North East Counties Schoolboy League in Kingscourt on Sunday afternoon. This ADSL selection did not include any Temple Villa, Hodson Bay or St. Peters players who had ADSL league fixtures also on Sunday.

The ADSL got off to a flying start with a goal after just two minutes. Right back Shane Allen started the move with a great pass to Jason Nugent who picked out Neil Macken’s run on the opposite flank with the St. Joseph’s man cleverly cutting inside and calmly picked his spot low into the far corner for an early lead.

The ADSL played some great football in the first half and doubled their lead just four minutes before the break when Callum O’Brien got on the end of a well worked corner kick routine to head to the net.

The ADSL started the second half strongly and again scored after just two minutes and with a simply magnificent goal. The move embraced some eight passes starting from goalkeeper Brian Ruane to his centre-half Kieran Colclough, then out to left full Darran Duff, back inside

to the other centre-half Paul Carey out wide to right full Enda Tynan Daly who played the ball up the line to Darragh Cunningham who stroked an even better pass into the path of Kevin Rowan’s run who crossed low for Jason Nugent to finish first time to the net for a simply super goal.

The ADSL went 4-0 up with a Joe Carmody goal from a free kick just two minutes later and the ADSL wrapped up the scoring five minutes from the end when a Charlie Nevin pass picked out out Darragh Cunningham who took the ball to the end line before crossing for Jason Nugent to brilliantly head to the net to crown a superb individual performance for him and an outstanding team display by the ADSL U-14’s.
