                            THREE-MENDOUS WIN FOR ST. PETERS

                                       TEMPLE VILLA     1       :       ST. PETERS     3

St. Peters claimed all three points in this Under-13 Premier Division game with a most impressive performance in front of both goals. They were more efficient in attack and had a superb goalkeeper in Patrick Reilly together combining for a fully deserved win in TP Hickey Park on Saturday morning.

After an even start St. Peters started to take control and had the game’s first decent chance on twelve minutes when Brandon Greene’s fierce shot fizzed narrowly wide. Then after a period of sustained pressure St. Peters finally took the lead when Luke Gibson’s great strike flew into the top corner after a very good move down the right.

St. Peters doubled that lead early in the second half when Luke Francis’s free-kick found the net from distance. Villa made instant reply when Harry Niall broke free but his shot was saved with a quite brilliant stop by Patrick Reilly.

Brandon Greene then stretched the St. Peters lead out to 3-0 when he scored with a fantastic free-kick to seemingly secure the points. However, Villa would not give up and it took another excellent Reilly save to keep out Adam Donoghue’s well struck shot. Reilly then produced another top drawer stop to deny Josh Malone’s fine effort.

Villa were eventually rewarded when Thomas Berry finally found a way past the outstanding St. Peters keeper to get a goal back and they might have reduced the margin to the minimum but Josh Malone was again denied by the excellent Patrick Reilly again.

But St. Peters deserved to win for their earlier dominance to claim three valuable points.
